Dexter Should be a Model...

I've decided to try doing the style journal thing again. For one thing, it encourages me to dress better & when I'm dressed better, I'm more confident. My apologies for the mess behind me, but I still don't have my closet doors on (I'm supposed to be refinishing them at some point, but they've been unhinged for the better part of two years now...) which are on the opposite side of the room, so be glad I at least spared you from viewing that disaster...

I love that Dexter hopped into this shot. He was following me around as I jumped back & forth in front of the camera. The kitty was also in the room, but she was busying herself with rubbing against the tripod the camera was attached to -- fortunately not at the moment this photo was being taken ;)

I got some more colors of poly chiffon today and I can't wait to start playing around with it! I'm thinking of trying my hand at embroidering raw-edged layers of it together to make some more necklaces out of. I'll try to post some photos if I get anything interesting out of it... ;)

Here Comes the Rain (Again)...

I said I wouldn't do it, but I went ahead & did it anyway; I tried another outdoor craftshow, the 4th Street Art and Music Festival. And it was fairly terrible. The weather report called for rain all day, but I'd made a commitment. I was showing with my craft group, the Jersey City Craft Mafia (JCCM,) so at least we'd all be in the same boat together. I bought two ponchos ahead of time -- one for me & one for whoever else was desperate enough not to care what they looked like.

Once again, I was stuck with a bad spot. Once again, I was close to the loud, live music & dj booth. And once again, I was stuck with myself. I'm not a mingler. I'm not a salesperson. I get bored just sitting there. And so I quit. I just up & left. And wouldn't you know right after I left, the weather cleared up, the sun came out & sales picked up. AND a co-worker stopped by to see me & I'd already left. So then I really felt badly.

(sigh)

BUT, I still don't know if I've completely sworn off craft shows...Maybe the third time is the charm? BUST Magazine's Craftacular is coming up & the JCCM is going to try to get a couple of tables. And the good news is that this one's indoors ;)
